Basic Information on Lyon
Lyon is the second largest city in France. It is located in the country’s east-central part at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône, about 470 km south from Paris.
Lyon played an important role in the history of cinema: it was here that Auguste and Louis Lumière invented the cinematograph. It is also known as the capital of light due to the annual annual festival: the Fête des Lumières. Eventually, the city of Lyon is also famous for its cuisine and gastronomy.
