Founded in 1995, the ERIC (Entrepôts, Représentation et Ingénierie des Connaissances - litteraly, Warehouses, Representation and Knowledge Engineering) lab is a joint research unit (Équipe d’Accueil 3083) of Université Lumière Lyon 2 and Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. ERIC is also a member of the Institut des Sciences de l'Homme.
Research at ERIC aims at extracting value from huge, complex databases, especially in the fields of humanities. It falls into the following domains:
- data warehousing: intelligent integration of complex data, multidimensional modeling of complex objects, personalized on-line analysis (OLAP), data warehousing process security;
- data mining and decision: machine learning, graph study and graph mining, complex data analysis, multicriteria aggregation, opinion lining, data mining software.

The ERIC lab is involved in numerous academic and industrial partnerships. Its members contribute to the higher education activity (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D.) of both universities Lyon 1 (FST-Informatique et Polytech Lyon) and Lyon 2 (DIS et IUT Lumière). We notably coordinate a European Master's course in Data Mining and Knowledge Management (Erasmus Mundus DMKM M.Sc.).
