Location

Blois is located in the very heart of the “chateaux de la Loire” region, a Unesco World Heritage site, which is the second most popular tourist destination in France (after Paris). The town counts about 50,000 inhabitants, lies on the Loire river between Orléans and Tours and is surrounded by wide forests. It is an ancient royal capital of France, rich in historical monuments and cultural events. The famous château de Blois, a tourist’s must, is an architectural masterpiece combining 4 different styles (from early gothic to classical). The historical downtown situated on a hill, largely renovated in recent years, offers walking leisure along medieval and renaissance streets, as well as magnificent views on the Loire river.

Blois is also a perfect starting point for visiting wineyard domains (vins de Loire), as well as other famous châteaux de la Loire such as the majestic Chambord castle (20 km), Cheverny (20 km) with its rich interiors, Chaumont (15 km) with its international garden festival, and others.

Blois has a dynamic economy including important manufacturers in the domains of car equipment, health, food and cosmetology, as well as large computing companies.
