Objectives

Business Intelligence (BI) promises an organization the capability of collecting and analyzing internal and external data to generate knowledge and value, providing decision support at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Since its inception 20 years ago, BI has become a huge industrial domain and a major economic driver, unaffected by the economic crisis, and is still growing fast, consistently mentioned among the top priorities of Chief Information Officers worldwide, as evidenced by analyst firms Forrester, IDC and Gartner.

Data warehousing and OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) have proven to be fundamental and essential technologies for business intelligence. Today they are faced with new scientific challenges emerging with the proliferation of new data types (spatial data, data streams, etc.), new architectures and infrastructure (Cloud, data web, etc.), big data, and the need to adapt to different kind of users. This raises scientific locks that require the definition of new approaches to architectures, integration, modeling, querying, and optimization.

The French-speaking workshop on data warehousing and online analysis EDA , reaching its 9th edition (after EDA’05 in Lyon, EDA’06 at Versailles, EDA’07 in Poitiers, EDA’08 in Toulouse, EDA’09 in Montpellier, EDA’10 to Djerba, to Clermont Ferrand Bordeaux), aims at offering a regular meeting framework to researchers, industrials and users interested in the latest scientific and technological advances in data warehousing and online analysis.

International Dimension

If this event is primarily aimed to the French-speaking research community, it does have a strong international color:

  • Participation of international members in the program committee (Articles can be submitted in English or French).
  • Renowned international invited speakers: Panos Vassiliadis (University of Ioannina, Greece) and Alexander Löser (TU Berlin, Germany).
  • Selection of extended best papers for submission to a leading international journal of the domain: International Journal of Data Warehousing and Mining.
  • Invitation of students from the European Erasmus Mundus IT4BI Master program (program partly offered by the University of Tours).
