Presumably due to the (too) short time between the call for paper and the submission deadline, we have only received 7 submissions to the WMCD workshop. Unfortunately, our PC did not accept any of them for various reasons:
- good papers but unrelated to or poorly positioned into the workshop’s topics,
- already published papers,
- insufficiently good papers.
Thus, we are sorry to announce that the WMCD workshop cannot take place this year. We plan to resubmit this workshop to EDBT/ICDT 2012 and improve:
- publicize the workshop (CfP) sooner, more frequently, more broadly and over a longer period of time;
- precise the types of submissions we expect (including position papers);
- broaden the PC composition to encourage more submissions in the field of data mining.
We thank the EDBT/ICDT chairs and the WMCD program committee for their confidence and for their work for the workshop.
